Occupational Therapy

Building Skills for Everyday Success

Everyday tasks that seem simple—getting dressed, holding a pencil, managing emotions—can be challenging for some children. That’s where Occupational Therapy (OT) comes in. At Premier Pediatrics, we offer in-house occupational therapy services to help children gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed at home, in school, and in everyday life.

What Is Occupational Therapy?

Pediatric occupational therapy supports children in developing the fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and cognitive skills necessary for independence and participation in daily routines. Through engaging, play-based sessions, our licensed occupational therapists help each child meet their unique developmental goals.

Skills We Help Strengthen:

  • Fine motor skills (writing, cutting, buttoning, using utensils)

  • Sensory processing (tolerating textures, noises, movement)

  • Visual-motor coordination (puzzles, catching, drawing)

  • Self-care routines (toileting, dressing, hygiene)

  • Emotional regulation and behavior

  • Attention span, transitions, and executive functioning

Beyond the Classroom:

Why Private OT Services Matter

While some children may receive occupational therapy through their school, those services are typically limited to addressing only what's necessary for academic performance—such as writing, focusing in class, or using school materials.

At Premier Pediatrics, our therapy team takes a whole-child approach. We’re able to support skills beyond the classroom, including:

  • Feeding therapy (picky eating, oral motor issues)

  • Dressing, grooming, and bathroom routines

  • Sensory sensitivities that impact play or social interactions

  • Managing transitions at home or in the community

  • Building confidence in new or unfamiliar situations

This broader, more flexible model allows us to work on the skills that matter most to your child and your family—not just what’s tied to an IEP.

A Collaborative Model for Better Outcomes

Because our therapy team is in-house, your child’s occupational therapist works closely with their pediatrician and other specialists, ensuring clear communication and a coordinated care plan. This collaboration leads to stronger progress, fewer gaps in care, and a more positive experience for your child.

Helping your child grow, explore, and thrive—at home, at school, and everywhere in between.
